5TH ANNUAL FELDER FILM FESTIVAL JUNE 4 & 5, 2008

Shorts & Palmetto Awards
WEDS. JUNE 4TH & THURS. JUNE 5TH 7- 9 pm

Moving Images Group, the digital cinema division of Actor`s Theatre of South Carolina, will present the 5th Annual Felder Film Festival, as part of Piccolo Spoleto International Festival, with short movies from filmmakers throughout the state and beyond. In the past, film shorts have come from as far away as Japan. The festival was created as a showcase for moviemakers throughout the state to compete on a national level.

The movie shorts are twelve minutes maximum and twenty shorts will be screened, chosen by a panel of judges and shown as part of the Folly Beach Piccolo Spoleto Festival event. Screenings are free to the public and be from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday & Thursday evenings, June 4th & 5th in the Ballroom of Charleston on the Beach Holiday Inn, #1 Center Street, Folly Beach. There will be a cash bar and food available.

The FELDER FILM FESTIVAL Is sponsored and created by veteran film and television actor, Clarence Felder, film director and cinematographer, Michael Givens and Nick Smith of Nick Smith Films, to promote and develop new filmmakers and education of new visual technologies in the Charleston area.

SPECIAL MOVIEMAKERS WORKSHOP!
Todd Tinkham of Tinkhamtown Productions in North Carolina, will be the special industry guest this year, teaching a free seminar in navigating the festival circuit from 5:30 to 6:30 on Thursday evening prior to that evening`s festival. Mr. Tinkham`s 18 short movies have won dozens of top awards and been screened in over 200 festivals and in many countries over the past three years. One of Mr. Tinkham`s latest short films, ALEXA, which is in competition here at the Felder Film Festival, will also screen at the SLAMDANCE FILM FESTIVAL in Park City, UT, in January 2009.

JUNE 1ST - 2 - 3 Screenings/Awards 3 - 4 Young Moviemakers Workshop

Last year, the Felder Film Festival began a new division that is growing extremely rapidly. Shorts are chosen by judges for family appeal. The Felder Family Film Fest and Palmetto Awards is Sunday, June 1st, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm with a special free workshop for Young Moviemakers and their families from 3:00 to 4:00 pm at Physicians Auditorium on George St. downtown Charleston on the College of Charleston Campus.

A pony from Horsin` Around will be near the door for a photo opportunity with popcorn and treats available inside. The movies are "G" rated and are also shown as a part of The Piccolo Spoleto Festival. The Family Festival Division was created by theater and film actress, Lisa Morelli. Her goal is to develop and promote young filmmakers and generate education of new visual technologies in the Charleston area.
